February 1, 2008

President Kathy Jones opened the meeting at noon. Those in attendance were Susie Mosness, Nancy Snyder, Maggi Buttrell, Dale Garrett, and Jacque Scott.

The Soup Luncheon will be held on February 21, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Those who have volunteered to make soups are Dale Obberly (vegetable), Kathy Jones (chicken with rice and beef noodle), Hope Johnson (split pea), Janet Lowe (taco), Susie Mosness and Kathy Jones will make breads. Crackers, butter, and tortillas will also be served. The Grand is donating carryout containers with lids. The prices set are $4.00 and $3.50 for senior citizens. Fliers will be posted as well as advertising in The Pioneer for this event.

Nancy gave the Treasurer’s Report: As of January 31, 2008, FOL had a balance of $2,356.02. This includes $86 in donations and $25 from Knit-a-Bit fees.

January 2008 were approved, all ayes carried the motion.

Susie gave a brief report from the Library Board. Tamara Warwick, CPA, will not sign the Capital Campaign Resources Fund checks. It will be decided at the February 14, 2008 meeting whose signature will be used. There is about $12,000 in the Capital Resources Campaign Fund as of February 1, 2008.

Jacque reported quotes are being sought from two different sources for a new copier for the Library. She also said the Library would be buying two books for book clubs. Some of the book bags will be used for the book clubs.

Kathy has contacted Diana Taylor in re the Art Council, but has not heard back from her as of this date.

The Literary Promotion will be a 2009 activity. Organizing for this should begin in September 2008.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m. The next FOL meeting will be held March 7, 2008 in the Community Room of the Library.
