Minutes

March 7, 2008

President Kathy Jones called the March 7, 2008 FOL meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. In attendance were Kathy Jones, Beccy Oberly, Sue Tooley, Maggi Buttrell, Susie Mosness, Nancy Snyder, Mary Lou Gasienica, Suzanne Wilson, Dale Garrett, Kathy Agnew, and Jacque Scott.

Beccy moved, motion seconded by Nancy, to accept the February, 2008 minutes as read. Ayes carried the motion.

Treasurer’s Report:  Nancy reported a balance on January 31, 2008 of $2,356.02. A deposit from donations and the soup luncheon of $720.00 was made, and a check to the North 40 for framing of the two Jessica Zemski prints in the amount of $346.36 has been paid. The currant balance is $2,729.66. Kate requested the FOL purchase jackets for magazines. Beccy suggested FOL ask for donated subscriptions for additional magazines. The Library currently has about 70 different subscriptions and these are checked out very frequently. Suzanne moved and Mary Lou seconded the motion for FOL to pay the costs for 100 magazine jackets. Ayes carried the motion.

Library Federation Luncheon update:  Kathy J. feels we have enough casseroles and quiches committed. Beccy will order three cheesecakes from Nancy Stock. Nancy Snyder has already brought in the carrot cake. Beccy and Kathy will look at the books on hand to see if there are any the librarians attending the luncheon may want to purchase.

Annual Meeting and Book Sale update:  Tuesday, April 8, is the date to start pulling out the books and setting up for the Annual Meeting and Book Sale. Wednesday and Thursday will be the ‘in advance’ sales. The annual meeting will be April 9th and will be the official beginning of the book sale, and the sale will continue thru Saturday, April 12. There will be a live auction of books that have been donated from estates. These books have more income potential than those already earmarked for the book sale. The lunch, auction, and book sales will be held in the Library Community Meeting Room and Reading Room. Volunteers to make sandwiches for the annual meeting lunch are Suzanne, Kathy Agnew, and Beccy. Nancy will make cookies. Suzanne, Nancy, and Maggi will come in around 1:00 p.m. to start the set up. Other volunteers are needed to help with set up and clean up. Beccy will post notices in The Pioneer.

Maggi donated a handmade tablecloth and matching napkins to FOL to sell at the Annual Meeting. This will be put in a picnic basket and sold at silent auction.

Library Kitchen needs:  Jacque reported the policy is if something is needed, whoever is using the Community Room and kitchen bring it in and then take it back out. However, there are things that would make the use of the kitchen a lot better for everyone, such as breadbaskets, salt and peppershakers, additional water pitchers and hot drink pitchers. Kathy Agnew suggested making a list of items needed and maybe FOL and/or Women’s Club would donate some of the items.

The meeting adjourned at 12:45 p.m. The next meeting will be the Annual Meeting and Lunch on April 9, 2008, in the Library Community Meeting Room.

Respectfully submitted,

Dale Garrett, Secretary, FOL
