FOL Minutes - December 7, 2007

President Kathy Jones called the meeting to order at 12:10. Those present were:  Kathy Agnew, Beccy Oberly, Jacque Scott, Sue Tooley, Nancy Snyder and Dale Garrett.
It was agreed that FOL needed to renew its membership in the FOL-USA.
Jessica Zemsky has donated two prints for the Library. The N.40 will give FOL a 25% discount for framing the prints. The total cost would be $364.00. Dal moved and Beccy seconded to have the prints framed by the N.40. Ayes carried.
Nancy presented the Treasurer's report. Balance as of 11/30/07 was $1,605.57. The booth at the Women's Bazaar netted $373.00.
Jacque reported there are still bags for sale. She feels they would sell better if displayed with items in them (books, pads, etc.). The bowl and pitcher set is still up for auction, with the closing date being Labor Day (September 1, 2008). The starting bid will be lowered. The bowl and pitcher will be on display at the Library, and possibly at The Grand.
Beccy will work on the stationery after Christmas.
Kathy J. will send thank you notes to ACE Hardware and CSSI for their donations in re: fundraising letters being mailed by the Capital Resources Fund Committee. She also extended a thank you to Sue and Dale for serving on this committee.
Upcoming events:  Bridge and Brunch Bonanza will be held March 15, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Community Room. Prizes will be awarded. Knitting classes at the Library will be held January 26, February 2 and 9 from 10 a.m. until noon. These classes will be for beginners and "advanced" beginners.
Discussion was opened by Kathy J. on FOL's mission statement and guidelines. Events FOL will sponsor are fund raisers for FOL; local authors' book fairs provided the authors donated a percentage of the sales to FOL; other events in which FOL feels fits into the mission statement and which will benefit FOL.
Sue talked a little about an Arts Consortium that Mayor Diana Taylor is trying to pull together. Also Cassandra Mitchell and Shirle Norquest are forming a group that will promote all arts in the community.
Discussion was opened by Kathy J. in re:  checks being signed for bills incurred by the Capital Resources Fund Committee. Beccy moved to give Tamara Warwick the authority to sign the checks, and have Dale and Sue listed for the second signatures. Susie seconded. Ayes carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m. The next meeting will be held on January 4, 2008, beginning at noon in the Community Room.
