Minutes – May 07, 2010

Attending: Kathy Jones, Mary Lou Gasienica, Nancy Bruce, Maggi Buttrell, Nancy Snyder

President Kathy Jones called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m.

ACTIONS:

1. Dale moved, Mary Lou seconded, to give Jacque Scott up to $500 for purchase of new children’s books. All ayes carried the motion.
2. No donation will be made to the Central Asia Institute, as it does not follow our donation policy (foreign entity, not our local library).
3. Mary Lou moved, seconded by Nancy Snyder, to budget up to $400 for a plaque honoring all of the Big Timber Carnegie Liberians (listed in order, from the first to the present). All ayes carried the motion.
4. Dale moved, Mary Lou seconded, for FOL to reimburse the City of Big Timber for the cost of paper towels for the Library’s restrooms. The bill totals $39.95. The City’s budget for cleaning supplies has been exhausted. All ayes carried the motion.

OTHER BUSINESS:

1. The Chamber of Commerce has asked FOL to cater lunch for their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 12. Kathy, Nancy B., and Nancy S. will cook/serve.
2. Maggi and Beccy Oberly will work on the updated donors’ list.
3. The First Annual Spirit of Montana’s Poets and Authors reception will be held in the Community Meeting Room on September 3; from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. FOL will serve hors d’oeuvres. A planning meeting will be held in August.
4. Nancy S. will talk with C-Sharps about fabricating some type of windproof trash receptacle to be placed near the picnic table in front of the library.
5. The Memorial Day Celebration will be held on the lawn of the Library. The Library will not be open in honor of Memorial Day.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Balance on March 31, 2010: $1,581.66

Deposit (book sales/membership) 1,212.00

Less bills paid: 146.05

Balance on April 30, 2010 $2,647.61
