President Kathy Jones called the September 2008 meeting to order at 12:00 noon. In attendance were Beccy Oberly, Dale Garrett, Maggi Buttrell, and Jacque Scott.

Treasurer’s Report:  Nancy had submitted her report to Kathy before the meeting. The checking account, as of September 11, 2008 had a balance of $2,173.77. Prime Vest account had $1,121.00. Kathy withdrew $500 from the Prime Vest account and deposited it into the checking account, leaving a balance of over $600.00. The bill for the audio cases ($470.14) will be paid out of the $500.00 transfer.

Jacque requested the remainder of the $350 raised for children’s books to be used to purchase a set of state books (a set of 50 books, by Britannica) for $395.00. Dale moved to allow the purchase of the books, Beccy seconded, all ayes carried the motion. The second request from the Library was for FOL to pay the annual fee for Stamps.Com ($16.99 monthly). This allows for packages and other mail to be metered and shipping labels printed, saving time and cost. Beccy moved FOL to pay the cost. Dale seconded. All ayes carried the motion.

The closing date for the silent auction on the Pitcher and Bowl set has not been set. The purchase amount has risen to $80, as of this date.

Other items discussed:  1. Women’s Club Bazaar will be held November 8. The FOL will participate by having cookbooks, fresh herbs, book bags with books, and roses for sale. Kathy will check to see if FOL can get a small shipment of live poinsettias to sell also.

                                     2. Soup and Bread luncheon will be held in February.

                                      3. Annual Book Sale and Luncheon will be held in April.

                                      4. Beccy’s idea for a fun fundraiser – “Strip” poker, using strips of material (for quilting) as chips and money in playing poker. She is going to research the idea further on how it should be done.

                                     5. Beccy has a friend who wants to donate his personal collection of books on WWII. There are 120 books in this collection. She will check with Kate to see if the library has room for them. If not, Beccy will check with Lauren about the State Library taking the collection.

Respectfully submitted,
