Board of Trustees Meeting

July 14, 2011

MINUTES

 

Present:  Chair Linda Larson, Vice-Chair Susie Mosness , and Trustees Kathy Agnew, Ann Tyler.  Librarian Kate Lewis was also present.

 

Approval of Past Minutes:  Trustee Tyler moved to accept the June 9th minutes, the move was seconded by Trustee Agnew.  All approved.

 

Public Forum:  There was no public present.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

Library Budget:  It was assumed that the Library budget for 2011-2012 that was submitted to the City Council by the Board of Trustees was approved.

 

Library Endowment Fund:  The group managing the Endowment Fund now includes Mimi Cremer, Barbara Sell, Kathy Agnew, Doris Roots, Jim Overstreet and Brett Thiebeault.  The next meeting is scheduled for August, 2011.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

Summer Reading Program:  Librarian Lewis reported that the Summer Reading Program, One World Many Stories, will continue until July 22 with 73 children enrolled.  She said that the Librarians plan for 75 children and so the program has almost 100% participation.  She reported that the Program will end July 22 with a picnic and a professional story teller from Wisconsin.  The FOL will serve the picnic lunch.

 

Spirit of Montana Author’s Gathering August 5:  Lewis reported that 8 authors have committed to speaking at the Author’s Gathering.  These include Lois Olmstead, Craig Lancaster, Tim Cahill, Ed Kemmick, Richard Wheeler, Sue Hart, Barbara Van Cleve and Susan Spencer.   Many authors from last year’s event will also attend but not speak.  FOL will serve the refreshments at intermission.

 

Tri-County Sheet Metal:  A call was made by Lewis to Tri-County for maintenance of the AC system at the Library.  During the scheduled visit, it was discovered that the Library had been hit by lightning which disabled an AC condenser, 2 fans and some electrical units.  These items were repaired and the Library will be billed.

 

Next Meeting:  The next Board Meeting is scheduled for August 11, 2011 @ 5:00 PM.
