Board of Trustees Meeting

MINUTES

Present: Linda Larson, Board Chair; Susie Mosness, Co-Chair; and Trustees Kathy Agnew, Doris Roots and Ann Tyler. Librarian Kate Lewis was also present.

Public Forum: There was no public present.

Previous Minutes: Trustee Agnew moved that the minutes from April 14, 2011 be approved. Trustee Roots seconded the motion. All approved.

Library Budget: There was a general discussion about the library budget for 2011-2012. Linda Larson and Ann Tyler agreed to be the Budget Committee. Librarian Lewis agreed to submit a projected budget to the committee for consideration.

Capital Resource Fund: The Endowment Foundation is still getting organized. They are comparing banks for certificates of deposit and considering staggering the deposits at different banks. Trustee Agnew stated that there will always be enough in the fund to cover the annual mailing and ongoing expenditures such as the copy machine. Librarian Lewis presented the monthly bill from Terrell’s for the copy machine.

Newspaper Grant and PPL Grant: Lewis reported that she is working on a grant for digitizing the early Big Timber Pioneer Newspapers. She also resubmitted a grant proposal to the PPL for $1,000 matching funds to create an employment/career resource center at the Library.

Blake Nursery: Linda Larson reported that there is $300.00 in the Library budget for services from Blake Nursery. These funds will go towards more bark and gravel to fill in the flower beds plus pruning and pre-emergent when needed. Larson reported that the Garden Club has cleaned up dead leaves and cut back the perennials.

Friends of the Library: The Friend group raised over $1,000 in the April booksale and has approved several purchases for the library with these funds including yard signs, timers and corner mirrors.

E-Reader Policy: A policy was reviewed covering the handling of the four new e-readers in the library. Board members will review the policy and vote on it at the next meeting.

Board Re-Certification for Ann Tyler: Trustee Tyler has accepted the offer of another term as Trustee from the County. Her term will last through June 2016.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30. The next meeting will be held Thursday June 9 @ 5:00 PM.
